Laura now has the survival of the fittest to every help John and stay invisible or emerge him to die and finally have a bearing of her own. She chooses to leave him behind and walks away. In the very end, the shop explodes and John dies. The deed refers to the feeling of being invisible, which Laura has felt for a presbyopic time.
